About ibacalao

ibacalao is an AI-powered feedback tool for IB students. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Feedback generated by ibacalao is for practice and self-improvement purposes only and does not guarantee any particular grade or outcome.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ibacalao. If you are under 16, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements.

Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You must not share your account or allow others to use your credits or subscription.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
• We use IP/device signals to detect abuse (for example, one account used from an unusual number of different networks, repeated attempts to refer yourself, or reposted content used to farm rewards). Obvious violations result in an immediate account suspension, without prior warning. If the same network produces multiple suspended accounts, we may block that entire network from creating new accounts.

Acceptable use

You may use ibacalao only for lawful purposes. You must not upload content that you do not own or have permission to submit, attempt to reverse-engineer or scrape the service, use the service to generate content intended to deceive teachers or academic institutions, or interfere with the operation of the platform.

Subscriptions and payments

Paid plans and day passes are billed in USD. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before renewal. Day passes (Night Pass, Crunch Pack) are one-time purchases and do not renew. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Credits

Review credits granted through a subscription are valid for the duration of that subscription period. Credits granted through one-time packs do not expire once purchased. Credits are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.

Wearables hardware pre-orders

• Pre-orders for wearables hardware (Iris smart glasses, Trace voice recorder) charge the full price at checkout — this is a pre-order, not a deposit.
• Shipping windows are estimates only. Manufacturing and international shipping may take longer than expected, and we do not guarantee a specific delivery date.
• You may request a full refund at any time before your order ships, for any reason — see our Refund Policy for how. Once an order is marked shipped, this pre-ship refund right no longer applies.
• Once your order is handed to a third-party shipping carrier, iBacalao is not responsible for packages that are lost, stolen, delayed, or damaged in transit. If this happens, you should file a claim with the carrier directly; we will assist where we reasonably can, but we do not guarantee replacement or refund for carrier-caused loss or damage after shipment.

AI-generated feedback

Feedback provided by ibacalao is generated by AI (Anthropic Claude) and is intended as practice guidance only. It may contain errors or omissions. You should use your own judgement and consult your teacher before acting on any feedback. ibacalao makes no warranty that the feedback is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Intellectual property

The text and files you submit remain yours. By submitting content you grant ibacalao a limited licence to process it solely to provide the feedback service. We do not use your submissions to train AI models. ibacalao's software, branding, and written content are owned by ibacalao and may not be copied or reused without permission.

Limitation of liability

ibacalao is provided on an 'as is' basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to lost grades, academic penalties, or data loss.

Privacy and your data

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use analytics, and how we protect your information. You can request deletion of your personal data at any time — see our Delete My Data page or email us directly.

Security

• All connections to ibacalao are encrypted over HTTPS.
• Session cookies are httpOnly and expire after sign-out or 30 days of inactivity.
• We apply a Content Security Policy to limit what scripts and connections your browser may load.
• IP addresses used for abuse prevention are stored only as irreversible hashes and deleted within 48 hours.
• We do not sell your personal data or use your document submissions to train AI models.

Waitlist Referral Rewards

• How it works. Signed-in users get a personal referral code and link. When someone you refer completes signup, and their signup IP differs from yours, it counts as one verified referral toward the tiers published on your rewards table. Rewards don't stack — the highest tier you reach is the one that applies, and lower tiers are superseded automatically.
• Redeeming a tier. Once your verified referral count meets a tier's threshold, you can redeem it from your rewards table. Redeeming generates a one-time activation code tied to your account, valid for 90 days. Activating that code grants the free plan months for that tier immediately; the code is destroyed on use and cannot be reused or transferred, including if shared with someone else.
• Fraud prevention. Referrals from the same IP address as the referrer, self-referrals, and accounts we determine were created to manipulate the referral count do not count and may result in forfeiture of rewards already redeemed, plan time already granted, and/or account suspension.
• No cash value. These rewards are free plan time only and have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be combined with the separate Creator Rewards Program below.
• Changes. We may adjust the referral tiers, the reward amounts, or discontinue the program at any time; codes already issued before a change remain honored until their expiry.

Creator Rewards Program

• Eligibility. Free-plan rewards are open to any account in good standing that is at least 13 years old (parental permission required under 16, per Eligibility above) and has completed the IB persona quiz. You may start and submit videos right away, but your account must be at least 7 days old before you can claim a reward. The cash component is available only to creators who are 18 or older and residents of the United States — everyone else who reaches a cash-eligible tier receives the equivalent free-plan reward only, never cash.
• How it works. Starting a challenge opens a 30-day, non-stackable window, and you may start at most one new challenge every 30 days. During that window you may submit multiple video URLs, and each one must show or mention ibacalao in a context that makes sense — say the name, show it on screen, or reference it in the caption/title; simply being related to studying or IB is not enough. Your combined verified view count is compared against the reward tiers published on the Creator Rewards page. You may claim once you reach a tier, or let the window run the full 30 days.
• No automatic rewards. Reaching a tier does not by itself grant anything. You must submit the verification form before your 30-day deadline to claim a reward. If the form is not submitted before the deadline, the challenge expires and no reward is granted for that window, regardless of views reached.
• Disclosure requirement. Every submitted video must disclose, per the FTC Endorsement Guides (or your local equivalent), that it concerns a product you may be rewarded for. Undisclosed sponsored content is not eligible and may be removed from consideration during review.
• Verification. View counts are read from each platform's own data, never taken on your word. Submissions may be placed in a review queue for up to a few days, particularly early in an account's history or when submission patterns look unusual; this is a fraud-prevention step, not a rejection. Videos found to be reposts, deleted, private, or otherwise not genuine are not counted.
• Cash cap and taxes. Cash rewards are capped at $500 per person per calendar year. The cash rate is $5 per 100,000 verified views, starting at 200,000 verified views, and is a gross figure before any payment-transfer fees and before taxes. We may request additional identity verification before releasing a cash payout, and may withhold or delay payment pending that verification. You are responsible for any tax obligations arising from rewards you receive, and for any fee charged by the payout method.
• Payout method. Cash rewards are sent via PayPal to the email address you provide. We are not responsible for payouts sent to an incorrect address you supplied, or delays caused by PayPal.
• Fraud and clawback. We may disqualify a submission, a challenge, or an account, and reclaim any reward already granted, if we determine that views, engagement, or account activity were manipulated, that a video was reused or misrepresented, or that these terms were otherwise violated. One reward-eligible account per person; using multiple accounts to claim rewards is a violation of these terms independent of any automated detection.
• No purchase necessary, no element of chance. Rewards are a deterministic function of verified views against the published tiers — this is not a sweepstakes or lottery.
• Full official rules. This is a summary — the complete rules, including the exact review and disqualification process, are at /creator-rewards/rules and take precedence in the event of any conflict with this summary.

Desktop experience

The full product — draft upload, PDF review, teacher tools, and related workflows — is designed for desktop and laptop screens (768px width or wider). On smaller viewports you may see a message asking you to use a desktop device. This is a product limitation, not a permanent block on your account.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of ibacalao after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ecuador. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Ecuador.
